How the NCACL may use a bequest

The NCACL’s preference is for bequests which meet the general objects of the National Centre.  Such bequests provide the Centre with the flexibility to meet our greatest needs as these change over time, while continuing to reflect the Centre’s objects. We do however recognize that you may wish to direct your gift towards a particular area of interest, such as educational programs or exhibitions.

We would be delighted to discuss these options with you. All money donated or left to us is held in trust, accounted for in annual reporting, used only in accordance with the National Centre for Australian Children’s Literature Objects and its Deed of Trust, and in compliance with the applicable federal legislation.

In 1998 Pixie O'Harris' family donated 95 original illustrations relating to "The Wind in the Willows". They also donated copyright residing in the artwork. They wished that the illustrations be kept together in one place for research purposes and for public exhibition.

Three exhibitions of the artwork have occurred and glass merchandise has been created.
