In this timeless picture book sequel to 'A Home for Bilby', Bilby and his bush animal friends face the fear of an approaching bushfire. Some animals, such as Kangaroo and Emu, choose to leave, while others like Bilby and Wombat remain and take shelter in their burrows. Told from the perspective of various bush animals, this closely observed picture book conveys the sights, smells and sounds of flames engulfing their natural habitat.
It also shows the impact of bushfires on native flora and fauna before ending on a positive note of regeneration. A range of bush animals and plants are shown in distinctive, vibrant illustrations that combine traditional dot art with contemporary images. Author Joanne Crawford is descended from the Nhunda people of the Geraldton area of Western Australia. Grace Fielding is an Indigenous artist who was raised at the Wandering Mission near Perth.
