This bilingual book was created by the Ramingining Playgroup in both the Warlpiri language and English and invites participation in the action song ‘Bἃru, Nyoká, Miyapuna Manikay’. On seven double page spreads we see a crocodile, a crab and a turtle each in a repeated action (crocodile is crawling, crocodile is crawling) where? (in the mud, in the mud) concluding with a particular characteristic (it has a long nose).

Simple, colourful illustrations, created by various community members, invite activities such as counting, identifying colours, plants and footprints as well as items found in the environment such as snails, shells and eggs. At the back of the book is a mirror surrounded by illustrations of familiar items. This is a useful tool for engaging young readers with the book.

The back jacket provides additional information about the area and the people who live in Ramingining in Arnhem Land. Here we see family activities with young children which include hunting to collect food, how the food is collected - in bathi (dilly bags) and a familiar activity - singing the manikay (songs) when going hunting or in playgroup. The book includes a CD featuring six songs sung by the Ramingining Playgroup. The Families as First Teacher Program and the Northern Territory Library assisted the Ramingining Playgroup in the production of this book.
